Capricious COVID
Okay, so I was feeling a little superior in my health and safety practices.... neither Mister nor I had contracted COVID during the first 2 years of the pandemic. Instead of feeling lucky, I must admit I felt a little smug. Until this week. I thought I had a cold. Doug started sniffling a day or so later. Monday morning he said he felt really crappy and thought we ought to test. I said, We can still get colds, you know. We don't have COVID, I said, as we turned the Q-tip in our noses, 15 seconds in each nostril. Besides, if we did, you realize we would have to cancel hosting Thanksgiving, right? As if I could threaten the virus to leave us alone. I was shocked to see the black line show up under "T". Didn't realize at first that meant we had it. Sure explains the weariness, and the weekend of lying around, binging movies and not much else.
So, I was devastated. Why a few days before a holiday? We were planning to host in our new shop! Reaching out to family, none of them seemed as bummed as I was. Absolutely no clue where we got it. Stupid COVID. With shots and boosters, it was pretty mild. I knew it was only a matter of time, but I sort of liked being a COVID virgin....
