Thanksgiving Dinner Menu
One of the things I miss about Mom is planning meals over the phone. An in-law once pointed out how important food is to a Zaerr. We like to grow it, plan for it, cook it, talk about it, and of course, eat it. Not surprising, then, that Mom and I often talked about what we were making for meals. And, a holiday was not complete without telling the other what was on the menu- even for those when we weren't together. Because I was isolating with COVID, I had all 4 days off to plan for today's after holiday meal- we had the kids in now that we're out of isolation. My family of 6 likes my meals but talks about agriculture while eating. No one talks about food. Not even "yum!". So- indulge me....
Turkey: (dry brine, roasted Wed, gave half to neighbors, and froze the other. So moist!)
Mashed potatoes & gravy (made with turkey juices- not too salty this year!)
Trader Joe's cornbread stuffing (disappointing)
Oyster stuffing
Green bean casserole
Debbie's sweet and sour green beans
3 cranberry sides (because I bought 3 bags when I was planning for 24 pre-COVID)
Brussel sprouts (pecans, bacon, dried cranberries drizzled with balsamic reduction)
Rolls (Rhodes, baked Saturday to give them enough time to raise- just right!)
Deviled eggs & pickles
Strawberry pretzel salad
Pumpkin pie
Chocolate pie
Coffee was ground whole beans from Mike & Teresa's wedding favors. Yum!
I feel better.
